How Phishing Attacks Work
Many crypto users understand the importance of keeping their seed phrase secret. However, this awareness also creates opportunities for scammers to exploit users through other methods.
One common tactic is offering a large reward in exchange for a small action or commission. Scammers are persistent and will continuously attempt to trick users into revealing sensitive information, including their seed phrases.
The golden rule
Tangem support will never contact you first. If someone reaches out to you claiming to be from Tangem — on Telegram, Discord, email, or any other platform — it is a scam.
Only trust official communication channels listed at tangem.com → Community.
How phishing attacks work
Most crypto scams follow the same pattern:
- Setup. The attacker creates a fake website, email address, or social media account that closely imitates a legitimate one. The goal is to create a convincing mask that will trick unsuspecting targets.
- Bait. The victim receives a message with an urgent offer, alert, or promise — for example, a crypto airdrop, a security warning, or a support request. The goal is to trigger immediate action before the victim stops to think.
- Information gathering. The victim is directed to a fake website and asked to enter sensitive information — a seed phrase, login credentials, or wallet access.
- Exploit. With the obtained information, the attacker drains the wallet, steals the identity, or targets the victim's contacts.
- Exit. The attacker disappears or moves on to new targets.
How Tangem users are targeted
Fake support on Telegram
A common scenario: a user posts a question or complaint in the Tangem Telegram chat. A scammer sees the message and sends a private message, pretending to be a Tangem support agent.
They offer to help and send a link to a fake website that looks identical to the official Tangem site — except the "Get Tangem" button is replaced with "Connect Wallet." Entering your seed phrase on this site gives the attacker full access to your funds.

What to remember:
- Tangem representatives or support team members will never DM you first
- Always contact support directly instead of leaving a public message or comment
- Never follow suspicious links or connect your wallet to unknown platforms
Fake support on Discord
A new user asks a question in the Tangem Discord. A scammer replies in the chat and directs them to a fake "tech support" channel on a different server — not the official Tangem Discord.

Once there, the user is asked to "open a support ticket" and provide wallet details or a seed phrase.
What to remember:
- Tangem will never ask you to join another server
- Support tickets can only be submitted through the official Tangem website
- If you see such messages, ignore them and report the account
What scammers ask for
Be suspicious of anyone who asks you to:
- Share your seed phrase or access code
- Connect your wallet to an unfamiliar website
- Transfer funds to "verify" your wallet or "unlock" access
- Install a browser extension or additional app
- Join a private server or channel for support
No legitimate support agent — from Tangem or any other service — will ever ask for your seed phrase.
Common scam offers to ignore
- "Speed up your transaction on the blockchain"
- "Recover access to your non-custodial wallet"
- "Return stolen or lost funds"
- "Claim your airdrop — limited time only"
These offers are always fraudulent. Once crypto is sent to a scammer, it cannot be recovered.
