Card Setup & Limits
This article covers your virtual card details, how to add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay, account limits, and supported tokens.
Your virtual card
Once your KYC is approved, you receive a virtual Visa card. You can view your card number, expiry date, and security code inside the Tangem app by tapping the Tangem Pay banner on your portfolio page, then tapping on your card icon and then tapping ‘Show details’.
Note: on iPhone, taking a screenshot while card details are displayed will not capture the card data — this is a security measure built into the app.
Physical cards are not available at this time and may be introduced in a future update.
Adding your card to Apple Pay
- Open Apple Wallet on your iPhone
- Tap the + button in the top-right corner
- Select Debit or Credit Card
- Enter your card details manually — card number, expiry date, and the cardholder name exactly as it appears on your verification documents
- Follow the on-screen instructions to verify with the OTP sent to your phone
Alternatively, you can add the card through your iPhone settings under Wallet & Apple Pay.
Note: Apple Pay availability depends on your country or region and is determined by Apple, not Tangem or Rain. If Apple Pay is not available in your region, you will not be able to add your card to Apple Pay — this is an Apple restriction outside of our control. You can check whether Apple Pay is supported in your country at support.apple.com/en-us/102775.
Adding your card to Google Pay
- Open Google Wallet on your phone
- Tap Add a card
- Enter your card details manually
- Verify with the OTP sent to your device
Once added to Apple Pay or Google Pay, you can make contactless payments by holding your phone to any compatible terminal and confirming with your biometrics. You do not need your physical Tangem card present.
Paying online
For online purchases, enter your card number, expiry date, and security code at checkout, the same way you would with any other card. Tangem Pay works at any website that accepts standard Visa card payments.
Setting a PIN for your card
Setting a PIN allows you to authorise payments at terminals that require one.
- Open Tangem Pay in the app
- Scroll down to Card settings
- Select PIN code
- Enter your 4-digit PIN and tap Submit
- Tap Done to return to the home screen
Your PIN is now set and ready for use at payment terminals.
Freezing and unfreezing your card
If your card is lost, stolen, or you want to temporarily block it, you can freeze it instantly from the app without closing your account.
- Open Tangem Pay in the app
- Scroll down to Card settings
- Select Freeze Card
- Tap Freeze to confirm
Your card is immediately blocked for new transactions. Your balance is unaffected.
To unfreeze and resume using the card, tap Unfreeze Card from the same screen. The card becomes active immediately.
Replacing your card
If your card details have been compromised or you need a new set of card details for any reason, you can replace your card from within the app.
- Open Tangem Pay and tap your card
- Scroll down to Card settings
- Tap Replace card
- Review the confirmation screen — a $1 replacement fee applies
- Tap Replace card to confirm
Your new card details are generated immediately. Your old card details stop working straight away and this action cannot be undone. The replacement typically completes within 5 minutes, but may take up to 48 hours in some cases.
If your balance is insufficient to cover the $1 fee, you will be prompted to add funds before proceeding.
Can I link external wallets (Ledger, MetaMask, etc.)?
No. Tangem Pay can only be linked to a Tangem Wallet through the Tangem app. External wallets are not supported.
Account limits
These are the current limits for your Tangem Pay account. Limits may vary based on your verification level, account history, and risk profile, and may be adjusted over time.

Setting a daily limit
You can set a custom daily spending limit to control how much can be spent on your card in a 24-hour period.
- Open Tangem Pay and tap your card
- Scroll down to Card settings
- Tap Daily limit → Change
- Enter your desired limit between $0 and $50,000
- Tap Done
Your new limit takes effect immediately and can be changed at any time. The default limit is $50,000. Setting it to $0 disables spending entirely, which can be useful as a security measure when the card is not in use.
Supported tokens
Tangem Pay only supports USDC on the Polygon network. This is the only token that can be used to fund your account and the only token held in your Tangem Pay smart contract.
Sending any other token — including USDC on other networks, or any other cryptocurrency — to your Tangem Pay address will result in permanent loss of those funds. Other tokens cannot be recovered, converted, or returned. Always verify you are sending USDC on Polygon before confirming any transfer.
How many cards can I have?
Currently, Tangem Pay is limited to one card per verified user. Support for multiple cards is planned for a future release.
Once your identity is verified and your card is issued, you cannot apply for another card using the same identity, even with a different wallet. Attempting to register again will result in automatic rejection.
