Features & Customization

What languages does the Tangem app support?

The Tangem app is fully available in English, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, and Ukranian and partially in Italian and Traditional Chinese.

Can I use the wallet without an internet connection?

Your funds are stored on the blockchain, and the wallet keeps the private keys to these funds. Without an internet connection, you cannot access the blockchain, check your current balance, or initiate transactions. However, you can still top up or deposit funds into your wallet.

Is mining available on the Tangem Wallet?

Yes, you can mine directly to your wallet. There are no restrictions for mining in UTXO-based blockchains (for example, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash, Kaspa, Ravencoin) on Android OS, since the wallet can sign thousands of inputs.
However, on iOS there is a limit of 700 inputs per minute.

In account-based blockchains (Ethereum Classic, DisChain (Ethereum Fair), Ethereum PoW and more) there is no concept of inputs, and accordingly, there are no mining restrictions on the Tangem Wallet.

How does biometrics work? How do I activate it?

To access the Tangem app, you can use biometric authentication (fingerprint or facial recognition) instead of entering an access code and scanning a wallet. This allows you to view balances and switch between wallets if you have more than one.

Please note that your phone must support biometric authentication, and the feature must be enabled in your phone settings.

To activate this feature, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Tangem app.
  2. Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner of the homepage.
  3. Select App settings.
  4. Enable Face ID (iOS) / Enable biometric authentication (Android).

Once enabled, you can access the wallet using biometrics. Your access codes are stored in encrypted form in your phone’s secure enclave, allowing you to use biometric authentication instead of entering an access code.

Important: Signing transactions and making critical changes still requires your Tangem device.

Is it safe to use biometric authentication?

When using biometric authentication, the access code from the card is stored in encrypted form in the device's Secure Enclave (iOS) or Trusted Execution Environment (for Android OS). Biometric authentication is optional and can be disabled at any time or not enabled at all. For more information, you can refer to our blog article: How biometric authentication works in Tangem Wallet.

How do I change the app currency?

By default, the Tangem app displays the prices of your assets in US Dollars (USD). However, you can change the currency to see how much they are worth in another fiat currency. To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Tangem app.
  2. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the homepage.
  3. Select App settings, then App Currency.
  4. Find the currency you need in the search bar, scroll down the list of currencies, and select one.

The app will display the prices of cryptocurrencies and your wallet's balance in the chosen currency.

How do I hide my balance in the Tangem app?

Flip your device face down to hide/show balance.

To enable/disable this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tangem app and log in to your wallet.
  2. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the main screen.
  3. Select App settings.
  4. Enable Flip-to-Hide Balances.

Hiding your balance provides additional privacy by preventing others from seeing your financial information. In crowded places, the balance hiding feature can protect you from strangers trying to snoop on your wallet details. It will also help prevent other people from making assumptions and judgments about your financial situation.

How the hide balance feature works
Android and iOS devices feature built-in motion sensors, including an accelerometer and a gyroscope, enabling developers to capture movement along a three-dimensional axis.
This feature makes it possible to recognize various user movements, such as tilting the phone, shaking it back and forth, and rotating it in a circle.
We've taken advantage of this feature to provide you with a convenient way to swiftly hide your portfolio's value.

  9. Once you're ready to proceed with your import, select Sync Transactions.
  10. Once you've completed these steps, your Tangem Wallet transactions should be imported to your CoinLedger account. After you import your other wallets, you can generate a complete crypto tax report.
