XRP Ledger unveils rebrand and performance upgrade

XRP Ledger v3.2.0 rebrands its core server to "xrpld," clarifying independence from Ripple. The update brings better performance, security patches, and new developer tools.

The XRP Ledger has introduced a significant technical and branding update with the release of version 3.2.0. The core server has been officially renamed from "rippled" or "ripple daemon" to "xrpld" or "xrpl daemon." This rebranding, spearheaded by the XRPL Foundation, aims to clearly separate the decentralized public network from the commercial entity Ripple, addressing confusion among users, developers, and regulators. The update is designed to reinforce the network’s independence and decentralization, which could attract more third-party developers. In addition to the name change, version 3.2.0 delivers substantial technical enhancements, including a 30%-40% reduction in RAM usage, improved performance, new developer tools, bug fixes, and aggregated security patches. Validators and node operators should note changes to configuration paths, server metadata, and database directories, requiring system updates. Collectively, these improvements strengthen the XRP Ledger’s position as an autonomous, public blockchain infrastructure.
