What is XRP and who created it?
XRP is the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), an open-source public blockchain launched in 2012. XRPL is designed for fast, low-cost transfers of value and supports payments, tokenized assets, and a built-in decentralized exchange. XRP can be transferred directly between users without relying on proof-of-work mining.

XRPL transactions typically settle in about 3–5 seconds and require a small network fee. The total XRP supply was created at the network's launch and is capped at 100 billion XRP; no new XRP is created through mining. Transaction fees are permanently destroyed, so the total supply decreases slightly over time.
