Robinhood secures FCA crypto approval in UK
Robinhood’s UK arm secured FCA registration to offer crypto services, confirming AML compliance and positioning itself ahead of new UK crypto regulations set for 2027.
Robinhood’s UK subsidiary has been officially added to the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) register of authorized crypto asset firms as of July 31. This confirms Robinhood’s compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) requirements and allows the company to legally offer cryptocurrency services in the UK. With this registration, Robinhood joins over 50 approved firms, such as Ripple, Kraken, BlackRock, and BNY. The FCA’s crypto registration regime, in place since 2020, serves as a mandatory compliance checkpoint for crypto businesses operating in the UK. Robinhood’s approval comes ahead of the UK’s upcoming, more comprehensive crypto regulatory framework, which will begin accepting applications at the end of September and take full effect in October 2027. Early registration positions Robinhood advantageously in the evolving UK crypto market.
