Ripple, banks among 14 new crypto firms in EU MiCA register
ESMA added 14 crypto firms, including Ripple Payments Europe and several banks, to the MiCA register, raising the total to 294. This signals growing institutional participation in the EU crypto sector.
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has updated its MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) register, adding 14 new crypto-asset service providers. This brings the total number of authorized entities in the EU to 294. Notable additions include Ripple Payments Europe, OSL EU GmbH, Bison Bank from Portugal, and Croatia’s Hrvatska poštanska banka. Traditional banks such as Germany’s Volksbank Schwarzwald-Donau-Neckar and Raiffeisenbank Auerbach-Freihung have also joined, highlighting the growing institutional interest in the regulated European crypto market. Ripple Payments Europe’s inclusion formalizes its MiCA compliance, leveraging Luxembourg’s regulatory environment. Despite expectations that the MiCA deadline would reduce market participants, the register has grown by 51 new authorizations in three weeks. Although the pace of new licensing has slowed since the end of MiCA’s transitional period, institutional participation and regulatory momentum continue to increase.
