Ripple secures crypto license approval for Europe
6.6 Regulation Ripple received preliminary approval for a CASP license in Luxembourg, enabling regulated crypto and stablecoin payment services across the European Economic Area.
Ripple has received preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. This approval, pending final conditions, enables Ripple to launch Ripple Payments and offer regulated crypto asset and stablecoin payment services across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area (EEA). The CASP license, combined with Ripple’s existing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license, will allow European banks, fintechs, and corporations to access Ripple’s end-to-end crypto asset and stablecoin payments infrastructure through a single regulated integration. The move is expected to facilitate broader adoption of Ripple’s payment solutions and scale regulated crypto asset services for financial institutions and businesses throughout Europe. The preliminary approval, granted via a “Green Light Letter,” marks a significant step toward full MiCA compliance and a wider European rollout of Ripple’s payments and stablecoin infrastructure.
