X, formerly known as Twitter, has launched the Cashtags feature for iPhone users in the US and Canada, providing real-time access to stock and cryptocurrency prices directly within user timelines. According to Nikita Bier, X's product lead, Cashtags generated approximately $1 billion in global trading volume within just days of its launch, based on aggregated pilot data. The feature enables users to view price charts and financial data for assets like BTC, ETH, XRP, and DOGE, and is integrated with Wealthsimple for direct trading. X clarified that it does not execute trades or act as a brokerage, but aims to offer financial data tools and links. The rapid adoption of Cashtags highlights strong user interest and positions X as a growing player at the intersection of social media and fintech. The company is also preparing to launch its payment platform, X Money, further expanding its fintech ambitions.
