Bitwise Seeks SEC Nod for 11 New Hybrid Crypto ETFs Covering Altcoins

Bitwise has filed to launch 11 new crypto ETFs, covering assets like AAVE, UNI, ZEC, and TRX. The hybrid funds would combine direct spot holdings with derivatives, pending SEC approval.

Bitwise Asset Management has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to launch 11 new cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), expanding beyond its existing Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP products. The proposed ETFs target a diverse range of digital assets, including Aave (AAVE), Uniswap (UNI), Zcash (ZEC), NEAR, SUI, TRON (TRX), Ethena (ENA), Bittensor (TAO), Hyperliquid (HYPE), Starknet (STRK), and Canton (CC). Each ETF is structured as a hybrid “strategy” fund, with up to 60% of assets held directly in the underlying cryptocurrency and the remainder invested in related exchange-traded products or derivatives. This approach aims to provide regulated, brokerage-based exposure to altcoins, combining direct spot holdings with the flexibility of derivatives. The ETFs are expected to be listed on NYSE Arca, pending regulatory approval, with an anticipated effective date around March 2026. Bitwise’s move reflects growing institutional interest in a broader array of crypto assets and marks a significant expansion of regulated crypto investment options in the U.S. market.
