The company aims to reduce management layers by 20% and consolidate operations, streamlining decision-making and lowering costs. Remote work will be limited to just 1% of employees, with most staff concentrated in major cities. These changes are designed to make Uber more agile and efficient, freeing up resources for future investments. Uber has committed over $10 billion to robotaxi partnerships and autonomous vehicle technology, seeking to transform its business model. Following the announcement, Uber's stock rose by up to 2%. The restructuring also targets micro-teams and will return Uber’s headcount to 2021 levels, positioning the company for future growth in autonomous mobility.
