Students want crypto courses, but colleges lag behind
90% of students and 87% of parents want crypto taught in college, but only 28% of business schools offer courses, so students turn to social media for information.
Recent surveys by OKX indicate that 90% of U.S. college students and 87% of parents support adding crypto and blockchain education to college curricula. Many even advocate for making such instruction mandatory. Despite this strong demand, only about 28% of accredited U.S. business schools currently offer blockchain-related courses, according to a 2025 review. This significant gap in formal education has pushed students to seek knowledge elsewhere. Notably, 33% of students now cite social media or influencers as their main source for crypto information, compared to just 7% who rely on academic institutions. These findings highlight a disconnect between the high interest in digital asset education and the limited academic offerings, driving students toward informal and potentially unreliable sources.
