Understand what a hardware wallet actually does

A hardware wallet generates and stores your private keys offline. When you want to send a transaction, it signs the transaction internally on the device and returns only the signed result for broadcast. Hardware wallets are the best balance of security and usability for most investors. Paper wallets can be damaged or lost. Air-gapped devices are more complex for everyday users. A hardware wallet sits in the middle: offline key storage with a practical signing flow.

Choose your hardware wallet

Sending RENDER on Ethereum to a Solana address, or vice versa, will result in lost funds. The networks are not interchangeable. An Ethereum transaction will not appear on a Solana explorer, and the blockchain cannot reverse it. Before sending a large amount, use the correct block explorer for the network and verify the transaction status, sender, recipient, amount, and fee. Use the Ethereum explorer for an Ethereum transfer, the Solana explorer for a Solana transfer. A transaction ID identifies one specific transfer; a wallet address can receive many transfers. Both can be searched on the correct network's explorer.

 

One practical approach: send one test transaction first. Verify it on the correct explorer, then send the remaining RENDER. The test still incurs a network fee, so use an amount you are comfortable spending. It can prevent a bigger irreversible mistake. Tangem charges no fee for network transactions, but blockchain network fees still apply.

The transfer flow, step by step

The cold-storage transfer sequence is straightforward:

  1. Create the receiving public address in your Tangem app for the correct network.
  2. Copy or scan the address (the Tangem app supports QR-code sharing).
  3. On your exchange, initiate a withdrawal to that address on the matching network.
  4. Verify the transaction on the correct block explorer once it has been broadcast.
  5. Physically secure your Tangem cards once the transfer is confirmed.

 

When you want to spend or move your RENDER later: prepare the transaction in the Tangem app, tap your card to sign, and the app broadcasts the signed transaction. Your private key never leaves the card. If you lose your phone, your private keys remain on the card. Install the Tangem app on a new phone, tap the card, and access is restored.
