Ripple expands XRPL AI kit with new payment protocols

Ripple’s XRPL AI Starter Kit v1.1 adds MPP and Open Wallet Standard, enabling AI agents to pay for services with XRP and RLUSD, supporting automated payments across multiple blockchains.

Ripple has upgraded its XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit to version 1.1, introducing support for the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) developed by Stripe and Tempo, as well as the Open Wallet Standard. This enhancement allows AI agents to pay for online services, such as data and computing power, using XRP and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin. The kit now supports both one-time and recurring XRP payment sessions, with payment channels for stablecoins planned after a future ledger upgrade. Developers can choose between MPP and the previously supported x402 protocol, which is also backed by Stripe, Coinbase, and Cloudflare. Integration of the Open Wallet Standard enables agents to request transactions without direct access to private keys, while enforcing safeguards like spending limits. The toolkit offers features for wallet creation, transaction monitoring, and real-time payment processing, supporting automated payments and wallet management across multiple blockchains. The software remains in testing, with no commercial usage data disclosed. RippleX aims to make XRP and RLUSD leading options for automated payment solutions.
