Microsoft and Databricks have announced an expanded strategic partnership extending through the 2030s. The collaboration will focus on deepening the integration of Databricks’ AI and data analytics capabilities within the Azure cloud ecosystem. Databricks plans to migrate more of its core operations and internal systems to Azure Databricks, leveraging Microsoft’s proprietary Azure Cobalt processors for improved AI performance and security. Key Databricks AI tools, including Genie and Unity AI Gateway, will be integrated across Microsoft’s enterprise software suite, such as 365, Teams, Copilot, Power BI, Purview, and Foundry. This partnership aims to deliver a unified, open, and governed platform for enterprise AI, emphasizing data governance, security, and domain-specific intelligence. The move strengthens both companies’ positions in enterprise AI and cloud data management, with potential impacts on sectors like blockchain and decentralized AI. Despite the announcement, Microsoft’s stock saw a slight decline.
