Meta develops Arena, a standalone prediction market app
Meta is developing Arena, a standalone prediction market app using a points system. Arena will compete with Polymarket and Kalshi and may allow real-money betting in the future.
Meta is developing a standalone prediction market app called Arena, reportedly overseen by Mark Zuckerberg. Arena will operate independently from Meta’s main platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The app is designed to compete with established prediction market platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, both of which have seen significant growth. At launch, Arena will use a points-based system similar to those found in video games, allowing users to make predictions on real-world events without wagering real money. However, Meta has not ruled out the possibility of introducing real-money betting in the future. This initiative reflects Meta’s broader strategy to diversify its product offerings and appeal to younger users seeking interactive, gamified experiences. The project remains unconfirmed by Meta and is currently in an experimental phase. Meta is also piloting other standalone apps, such as Meta Photos, which leverages AI to create new media formats.
