XRPL proposes DEX upgrade with new AMM curve types
XRPL proposes a DEX upgrade with new AMM curve types to boost capital efficiency for stablecoins, forex, and tokenized assets. The proposal is in draft and requires further approval.
The XRP Ledger Foundation and XRPL developers have introduced a draft amendment called “AMM Swappable Curves,” aiming to upgrade the XRP Ledger’s decentralized exchange (DEX). This proposal would add three new pool curve types—constant product, concentrated liquidity, and StableSwap—into the automated market maker (AMM) framework. These enhancements are designed to improve capital efficiency for liquidity providers, especially for stablecoin pairs, forex markets, and tokenized real-world assets. The new standard allows liquidity pool creators to select the most suitable curve type for their specific market, moving beyond the traditional constant product model. Existing pools will not be affected by this change. The proposal remains in draft status and will require a separate amendment vote before it can be activated. If approved, this upgrade would mark a significant step forward for the XRP Ledger’s DeFi capabilities, which already support over $3 billion in tokenized assets. The amendment process could take several months and is not guaranteed to pass.
