Tether unveils open-source Mining OS for Bitcoin mining

Tether has introduced Mining OS (MOS), an open-source operating system tailored for managing, monitoring, and automating Bitcoin mining operations of any scale. Announced at the 2026 Plan ₿ Forum in San Salvador, MOS unifies hardware, energy, and operational data, providing a comprehensive management platform for mining environments. The system features a modular, peer-to-peer architecture that supports both small and large deployments. Operators can oversee performance, energy consumption, and site operations through a single dashboard. MOS operates locally, without centralized servers, which enhances privacy and reliability. It is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license, allowing free use and modification. Additionally, Tether launched a Mining SDK to encourage community-driven development. The initiative aims to boost transparency, openness, and collaboration in Bitcoin mining, making advanced tools accessible to both hobbyists and industrial-scale operators.
