Ethena and FalconX unveil $1B facility for USDe backing
Ethena and FalconX launched a $1B facility to back USDe with overcollateralized institutional loans, aiming for more stable, diversified returns beyond crypto funding rates.
Ethena and FalconX have launched a $1 billion secured warehouse facility to diversify the assets backing Ethena's USDe synthetic dollar. This facility channels USDe reserves into overcollateralized institutional loans, reducing reliance on volatile perpetual-futures funding rates. The arrangement is structured through a bankruptcy-remote special purpose vehicle, with collateral held by qualified custodians. FalconX oversees origination and servicing of the loans, ensuring robust risk management and operational transparency. As of July 2026, institutional loans made up 6.9% of USDe’s backing, with annual yields projected between 4% and 7%, depending on demand and collateral quality. This marks a strategic shift from Ethena’s initial focus on crypto funding rates, aiming to provide USDe holders with more stable and diversified yields by bridging on-chain capital with traditional credit markets.
