Stablecoin supply could reach $4T by 2030, says Bitwise
Matt Hougan of Bitwise predicts stablecoin supply could hit $4 trillion by 2030, driven by tech giants like DoorDash and Meta piloting global stablecoin payments.
Bitwise’s Matt Hougan forecasts that stablecoin supply could surge from approximately $300 billion today to $4 trillion by 2030, fueled by adoption from major technology firms. DoorDash is collaborating with Stripe to pilot stablecoin payouts for 10 million Dashers across more than 40 countries. Meanwhile, Meta is launching similar initiatives for creators in the Philippines and Colombia, utilizing Solana and Polygon blockchains. Hougan emphasizes that while these pilots are modest in dollar value, they highlight the operational simplicity of stablecoins for global micropayments. This ease of use is seen as a significant advantage over traditional banking systems. He believes these early-stage programs could act as catalysts for exponential growth in the stablecoin market, potentially onboarding millions of new users into the crypto ecosystem.
