OKX launches Mastercard stablecoin card for EU payments

OKX launches a Mastercard-backed stablecoin card in Europe, enabling direct USDC and USDG spending at EU merchants with real-time conversion, self-custody, and no fees, in line with new crypto regulations.

OKX has introduced its stablecoin payment card and OKX Pay across Europe, marking a major step in merging digital assets with traditional payment systems. The OKX Card, powered by Mastercard and issued through Monavate, lets users spend stablecoins like USDC and USDG directly at millions of merchants throughout the European Union. The card offers real-time conversion of stablecoins to local fiat currency at the point of sale, removing the need for preloading or manual conversion. Users benefit from zero transaction or FX fees, making everyday crypto spending more accessible and cost-effective. This launch coincides with the implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), providing regulatory clarity for stablecoin payments. Emphasizing self-custody, funds remain in users’ wallets until purchase, reducing counterparty risk. The OKX Card aims to bridge decentralized finance with established payment systems, meeting the growing demand for seamless, regulated crypto payments in Europe.
