Scammers have stolen over $400,000 from crypto users by running fake Uniswap ads on Google Search. These fraudulent ads closely mimic the official Uniswap interface, tricking users into connecting their wallets and authorizing transactions. This results in immediate and irreversible loss of funds. Blockchain analysis identified two suspicious wallet addresses holding about 146 ETH, valued at around $306,000. Security groups like SEAL have blocked more than 356 malicious ad links, reporting total losses of $1.27 million between March 13 and 30. Attackers bypass Google’s automated checks by using legitimate-looking URLs and hidden iframes, allowing these phishing campaigns to persist for over a year. The situation has sparked criticism of Google for failing to prevent fake sponsored results. Experts urge users to double-check URLs and stay vigilant when interacting with search ads.
