WLFI Wallet Breach Sparks Fund Reallocation and US Scrutiny

WLFI suffered a pre-launch wallet breach via phishing, froze affected wallets, and required KYC for fund reallocation. Tokens in compromised wallets were burned. The project faces scrutiny and a US probe over its token sales.

World Liberty Financial (WLFI) experienced a security breach before its token launch, affecting a subset of user wallets through phishing attacks and third-party security lapses, not due to flaws in WLFI’s platform or smart contracts. In response, WLFI froze the compromised wallets, required affected users to complete new KYC checks, and developed new smart contract logic to securely reallocate funds to verified users. Tokens in compromised wallets were burned to protect legitimate holders. The reallocation process will proceed for users who complete verification, while unverified wallets remain frozen. The incident drew criticism from some in the crypto community over decentralization concerns and led to a decline in token value. WLFI emphasized its commitment to user safety and regulatory compliance amid ongoing scrutiny and a US investigation into its token sales, which have raised national security concerns.
