Gemini secures full payment license in Singapore
Gemini received a Major Payment Institution license from Singapore’s MAS, allowing its local entity to offer regulated crypto and payment services without transaction limits.
Gemini has obtained a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for its local entity, Gemini Digital Payments Singapore. This license allows Gemini to provide digital payment token and cross-border money transfer services, removing previous transaction-volume restrictions and enabling broader operations in Singapore. The approval follows an in-principle nod from MAS in October 2024 and the migration of Singapore customers to a locally incorporated entity in April 2025. To secure the license, Gemini met MAS’s requirements for anti-money laundering, due diligence, and technology risk management. With the full MPI license, Gemini can now offer regulated crypto services—including spot trading, custody, and OTC services—to both retail and institutional clients in Singapore, operating under enhanced regulatory oversight.
