OKX appoints Cuomo, launches ICE tokenization venture

OKX named Andrew Cuomo to its board and as co-chair of a joint venture with ICE to tokenize NYSE equities, strengthening its U.S. regulatory strategy and expanding its market presence.

OKX has appointed Andrew Cuomo to its board of directors, formalizing an advisory relationship that began in 2023. Cuomo has been instrumental in shaping OKX’s approach to U.S. regulation and institutional engagement, supporting the company’s strategy to expand its presence and infrastructure in the U.S. market. As part of this initiative, Cuomo will also co-chair a 50-50 joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. Announced in June 2026, the venture aims to tokenize NYSE-listed equities and ICE futures contracts, pending regulatory approval. The partnership plans to register as a U.S. broker-dealer and futures commission merchant, enabling OKX customers to access ICE futures and tokenized equities. Cuomo emphasized that blockchain infrastructure, rather than speculative tokens, represents crypto’s true breakthrough, highlighting its potential to modernize financial markets. This appointment follows OKX’s $500 million anti-money-laundering settlement as the company seeks to grow its regulated U.S. business.
