Trump’s $1.4B crypto earnings spark Senate ethics debate

Trump’s 2025 disclosure showed $1.4B in crypto income. Warren seeks updated 2026 crypto earnings before the Senate votes on the CLARITY Act, citing conflict of interest concerns.

President Donald Trump's 2025 financial disclosure revealed over $1.4 billion in crypto-related income. Major sources included $635 million in royalties from the TRUMP memecoin and up to $800 million from World Liberty Financial, a family-affiliated venture. This crypto income accounted for more than half of his total reported earnings for the year. In response, Senator Elizabeth Warren has formally requested that Trump voluntarily release updated financial disclosures covering his crypto earnings from January 1 to July 15, 2026, ahead of the official 2027 deadline. Warren's request comes as the Senate prepares to vote on the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at establishing a federal framework for digital asset markets. She expressed concerns about potential conflicts of interest and the appropriateness of high-ranking officials profiting from the crypto industry while related legislation is under consideration. The debate highlights the intersection of personal financial interests and regulatory policymaking in the crypto sector.
