ESMA adds 37 crypto firms to MiCA register, total now 280

ESMA added 37 new crypto-asset service providers to its MiCA register, raising the total to 280. Notable additions include Standard Chartered, FalconX, and Sygnum Europe.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has updated its register of crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). Following the end of the transitional period on July 1, 37 newly licensed firms have been added, bringing the total number of authorized providers to 280, up from 243 previously. Notable new entries include Standard Chartered, which also secured an Electronic Money Institution license, as well as FalconX, Sygnum Europe, Ronin EM, and CACEIS from Crédit Agricole. Cyprus contributed the highest number of new CASPs in this update. This marks a shift from regulatory development to active enforcement, with MiCA authorization now the primary route for crypto companies to serve EU clients. The expanded register enhances transparency and underscores the EU’s commitment to structured oversight of the crypto sector.
