Crypto firms lead 2026 U.S. election spending with $189M

Crypto firms spent $189M on the 2026 U.S. midterms, outpacing 2024 and leading corporate donors. The industry seeks more crypto legislation and regulatory clarity.

Cryptocurrency companies have spent $189 million on the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, making them the largest corporate political donors this cycle, according to multiple reports. This figure surpasses the industry's $170 million contribution in the 2024 elections and represents over one-third of all corporate political spending for 2026 so far. Major recipients include the Fairshake super PAC, which received $82 million, and the MAGA Inc. super PAC, largely backed by Crypto.com, which spent over $56 million. Other significant donors are Ripple Labs, Coinbase, and Andreessen Horowitz. Combined with contributions from artificial intelligence, big tech, and online betting sectors, total spending has reached $294 million. The crypto industry is ramping up its political influence as it seeks further legislation and regulatory clarity, following previous lobbying successes such as stablecoin legislation. However, the Clarity Act, aimed at establishing a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, has stalled in the Senate.
