Bybit enforces EEA migration ahead of MiCA deadline
Bybit will restrict EEA users on its global platform, requiring migration to its EU-licensed entity before the MiCA deadline. Malta is excluded. Users will retain asset access during the transition.
Bybit is introducing phased restrictions on its global platform for users in the European Economic Area (EEA) as the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) transition period ends on July 1, 2026. EEA residents currently using Bybit’s global platform must migrate to Bybit EU, a separately licensed entity under Austria’s Financial Market Authority. Malta is excluded from this migration since Bybit EU’s license does not cover the country. Affected users will receive advance notice and clear instructions on managing positions, transferring funds, and maintaining access to assets. During the transition, users will retain access to their assets, but those who do not migrate will face increasing restrictions, eventually resulting in withdrawal-only accounts. Bybit is also offering cashback incentives to encourage users to move their funds to the EU platform. These changes are part of Bybit’s regulatory compliance efforts and do not represent a full exit from the European market.
