Conio secures EU crypto license under MiCAR

Conio received a CASP license under MiCAR, allowing it to offer regulated crypto services across the EU after approval from Italian authorities. This positions Conio for expanded EU operations.

Italian fintech company Conio has obtained a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). This license enables Conio to offer regulated digital asset custody, transfer, and placement services throughout the EU. The approval followed comprehensive evaluations by Italy’s Consob and the Bank of Italy. Conio is among the last firms to secure licensing before the MiCAR transitional period ends on June 30, 2026. After this date, only authorized companies will be permitted to provide crypto services in the EU. MiCAR, fully implemented since December 2024, replaces various national frameworks with a unified regulatory regime. Supported by major Italian financial institutions such as Poste Italiane and Banca Generali, Conio gains direct access to traditional banking channels, strengthening its competitive position. The announcement has been reported by multiple sources, with verification based on company statements and secondary reporting.
