Polls reveal crypto policy ranks lowest among U.S. voter concerns
Polls show just 4% of Americans consider crypto policy when voting, with most prioritizing housing, fraud protection, and lower bank fees. Only 18% see crypto regulation as a top congressional issue.
Recent polls, including those by Public First and Politico, reveal that cryptocurrency policy is a low priority for most American voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Only 4% of respondents said a candidate’s stance on crypto would influence their vote, making it the least important issue among voter concerns. Instead, Americans are far more focused on everyday economic issues such as affordable housing, consumer fraud protection, and reducing bank fees. These consistently rank as top priorities, while only 18% of those surveyed considered establishing rules for the crypto market a top congressional concern—just slightly more than those who prioritized stricter regulation of large banks. Despite significant political spending by the crypto industry, public support for legitimizing crypto as a mainstream financial asset remains limited. Only 27% favor this move, while 45% view crypto investing as too risky. These findings highlight a disconnect between average voters’ priorities and the lobbying efforts of the cryptocurrency sector.
