Littlejohn admitted to leaking the information, pleaded guilty in 2023, and is currently serving a federal sentence. The Trumps argue that the IRS and Treasury ignored critical safeguards, enabling unauthorized access and dissemination of their private tax information. The leaked data reportedly included details about the Trump Organization, Trump himself, and family members. Trump’s legal team claims the leaks were politically motivated and is demanding strict action against the agencies. Additionally, Trump has filed a separate $5 billion lawsuit against a major bank for similar breaches of confidentiality.
