CME Group unveils compute and crypto index futures
CME Group will launch compute futures for GPU rentals and introduce Nasdaq CME Crypto Index futures, expanding access to regulated, innovative derivatives.
CME Group is set to expand its derivatives portfolio with two significant initiatives. First, in collaboration with Silicon Data, it will launch the world’s first compute futures market. These futures, based on daily GPU rental benchmarks, will enable participants to hedge or speculate on the volatile costs of GPU rentals for AI workloads, effectively making compute power a tradeable commodity. Second, CME will introduce the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index futures on June 8, pending regulatory approval. This will be CME’s first market-cap-weighted crypto futures contract, offering exposure to a basket of leading cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, ADA, LINK, and XLM. The contracts will be available in both micro and standard sizes, appealing to a broad range of investors. These announcements have boosted CME Group’s stock, highlighting strong market interest in innovative and regulated derivatives products.
