Tether Backs €80M Investment in Italian Humanoid Robotics Startup

Tether has invested €70-80 million in Generative Bionics to support the development and industrial deployment of advanced humanoid robots, with initial rollouts expected in 2026 across multiple sectors.

Tether has invested €70-80 million in Generative Bionics, a major spinoff from the Italian Institute of Technology, as part of a funding round with partners including AMD Ventures and Italy’s Artificial Intelligence Fund. Generative Bionics, which integrates over 20 years of robotics research and a team of 70 engineers and AI scientists, is developing intelligent humanoid robots for industrial-scale performance and human-centric interaction. The funding will accelerate the development of Physical AI systems, edge AI solutions, and the establishment of a production facility, with initial deployments expected in early 2026 across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and retail sectors. Tether’s investment aligns with its strategy to support technologies that enhance digital and physical infrastructure, reduce reliance on centralized systems, and empower individuals and communities. Generative Bionics holds exclusive licenses to key technologies and aims to introduce Italian-made humanoid robots capable of performing physically demanding and dangerous tasks in human environments. The first robot is set to debut at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The global humanoid robotics market is projected to exceed €200 billion by 2035, with further growth expected as industries adopt AI-driven automation.
