BlackRock’s Bold Ethereum ETF Moves: Staking, Transfers & SEC Filings

BlackRock has filed for a staked Ethereum ETF, transferred $78.3M in ETH to Coinbase Prime, and plans to stake up to 90% of holdings, distributing rewards to shareholders if approved.

BlackRock has made significant moves in the Ethereum ETF space, including transferring 24,791 ETH (worth about $78.3 million) to Coinbase Prime, signaling strong institutional confidence in Ethereum. The firm has filed for an iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF with the U.S. SEC, aiming to offer a regulated product that combines Ethereum price exposure with staking yield. The ETF plans to stake 70% to 90% of its Ethereum holdings, distributing staking rewards to shareholders at least quarterly, with Coinbase Custody Trust Company as the primary custodian. This initiative follows a shift in SEC policy, allowing staking features in ETF filings. BlackRock's actions are expected to enhance Ethereum liquidity, attract institutional investors, and potentially redefine crypto-based yields, though market response remains cautious pending regulatory approval.
