BlackRock hits record $15.5T AUM on Q3 earnings surge

BlackRock’s Q3 saw record $15.5T AUM, $205B inflows, and strong earnings, led by ETF and digital asset growth. State Street lagged with weaker revenue and cash outflows.

BlackRock delivered robust third-quarter results, with assets under management (AUM) reaching a record $15.5 trillion, up from $13.46 trillion a year earlier. The firm attracted $205 billion in net inflows, fueling a 19% year-over-year revenue increase to $7.75 billion and a 38% rise in adjusted earnings per share to $15.93. Net income climbed to $1.66 billion, or $10.57 per share, compared to $1.32 billion, or $8.43 per share, last year. The iShares ETF segment led with $134.5 billion in new inflows, while fixed income products attracted $78.2 billion. BlackRock’s digital asset ETFs, including IBIT and ETHA, contributed significantly, with IBIT holding $67.31 billion and ETHA $8.69 billion in net assets. The adjusted operating margin expanded to 47.8%. Despite these strong results, risks remain, such as potential slowdowns in AUM growth or renewed redemption pressures in private credit due to valuation concerns or AI-related impairments. In contrast, State Street shares fell 7% after revenue missed expectations and cash withdrawals offset ETF growth, underscoring investor focus on inflow quality and sustainability.
