Robinhood launches AI agents, perpetual futures, weekend trading

Robinhood unveils AI trading agents, crypto perpetual futures with 10x leverage, and weekend stock trading, expanding tools and trading hours for active traders.

Robinhood is rolling out a suite of new features aimed at active traders. These include AI-powered trading agents, crypto perpetual futures with up to 10x leverage, and weekend trading for select U.S. stocks and ETFs. The AI agents, integrated into the app, can analyze markets, develop strategies, and execute trades using models from OpenAI or Anthropic, drawing on institutional-grade data. Users can assign long-term tasks to these agents, but all trades require user approval by default. Robinhood is also extending options trading hours, enhancing intraday margin support, and introducing contracts based on corporate earnings metrics. Perpetual futures trading will be available for assets like bitcoin, ether, and Solana, featuring real-time risk management and low fees. Pending regulatory approval, weekend equities trading will be routed through Bruce ATS and will initially cover a curated list of stocks and ETFs, moving toward a seven-day trading week. Since opening its platform to external AI agents, over 150,000 agent accounts have been created.
