Blockchain.com and NYSE unveil tokenized stock plans

Blockchain.com and NYSE plan to offer tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs to crypto users, pending regulatory approval, while also developing separate tokenized securities initiatives.

Blockchain.com and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) have signed a memorandum of understanding to offer Blockchain.com’s global users access to tokenized U.S. exchange-listed stocks and ETFs through NYSE’s digital alternative trading system, pending regulatory approval. This collaboration aims to expand NYSE’s reach among crypto-native investors and may include sharing market data and analytics between the two platforms. Tokenized stocks are seen as a major innovation, providing benefits such as fractional ownership, 24/7 trading, global accessibility, and faster settlement. The tokenized-asset market is projected to reach $5.5 trillion by 2030, highlighting the sector’s rapid growth. Despite the partnership, both Blockchain.com and NYSE are also pursuing independent projects in tokenized securities. Blockchain.com’s partnership with Ondo Finance gives non-U.S. users access to tokenized equities, while NYSE is developing its own blockchain-based trading platform. These efforts reflect the sector’s momentum and regulatory challenges.
