Caroline Ellison joins Manifund after FTX scandal
Caroline Ellison joins Manifund full-time in a technical role after her involvement in the FTX collapse, sparking debate on transparency and redemption in crypto.
Caroline Ellison, formerly of Alameda Research, has joined the nonprofit Manifund in a full-time capacity after a work trial that began in July, during which she published under the pseudonym "Carol." Her responsibilities now include developing Manifund's funding platform, supporting operations, customer service, and researching philanthropic funding strategies. Manifund, a 501(c)(3) charity, connects donors and fundraisers, having financed 486 projects and raised $17.2 million. Ellison's role is focused on technical infrastructure and logistics, not financial management or trading. Her hiring has reignited discussions about transparency and redemption in the crypto sector, especially given Manifund's historical ties to the FTX Future Fund. Ellison previously pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy charges related to the FTX collapse, cooperated with prosecutors, and testified against Sam Bankman-Fried. Her new position marks a return to the sector in a non-financial capacity.
