Shinhan pilots KRW tokenized fund on Solana
Shinhan Asset Management is piloting a KRW tokenized fund on Solana, targeting institutional investors and compliance with new regulations. The project aims to lead the digital won asset market.
Shinhan Asset Management has announced the development and pilot of a Korean won-denominated tokenized fund on the Solana blockchain. This initiative is in collaboration with the Solana Foundation, Etherfuse, and Orca, and is modeled after BlackRock’s BUIDL fund. It targets overseas institutional investors and focuses on ultra-short-term bond funds, with holdings issued in tokenized form. The proof of concept will address key areas such as KYC, AML, security audits, compliance, and on-chain liquidity, ensuring readiness for South Korea’s upcoming tokenized securities regulations. This project highlights the growing institutional interest in blockchain-based asset management and positions Shinhan to lead the market for won-based digital financial products. Currently, the tokenized real-world asset market is valued at $36 billion and is projected to reach $30 trillion by 2030. South Korea’s legal framework for security token offerings is set to take effect in February 2027.
