Ripple, Clearpool & Cicada launch lending on XRPL

Ripple, Clearpool, and Cicada Partners are launching an institutional lending platform on XRPL, using RLUSD and native protocols to connect institutional capital with real-world businesses.

Ripple, Clearpool, and Cicada Partners have announced a collaboration to launch an institutional lending platform on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This initiative aims to connect institutional capital with real-world businesses, such as fintech and payment companies, by offering stablecoin-based financing using RLUSD as the lending asset. Clearpool will provide the lending infrastructure, leveraging its experience in processing over $930 million in institutional loans. Cicada Partners will manage borrower sourcing, underwriting, and loan management, bringing over $860 million in credit underwriting experience. Ripple will participate as an investor in the credit fund. The platform will utilize XRPL’s native Lending Protocol (XLS-66) and Single Asset Vaults (XLS-65), which operate without smart contracts or third-party dependencies. Currently in development and being tested on XRPL Devnet, the project awaits validator approval for key protocol amendments. The partnership is expected to enhance XRPL’s utility, attract capital from the tokenized private credit sector, and provide regulated, on-chain lending infrastructure for institutional clients.
