Grayscale seeks SEC approval for spot Worldcoin ETF
Grayscale filed with the SEC to launch a spot Worldcoin ETF on Nasdaq (GWLD), holding WLD directly. The ETF offers passive exposure to WLD, pending regulatory approval. WLD price rose 4.5% after the news.
Grayscale has submitted a registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a spot Worldcoin (WLD) exchange-traded fund (ETF). The firm aims to list the ETF on Nasdaq under the ticker GWLD. If approved, the ETF would hold WLD directly, enabling investors to gain exposure to the token without needing to purchase or store it themselves. Shares of the ETF would be issued and redeemed in standard blocks of 10,000, following Grayscale’s established digital asset trust model. The fund is designed as a passive investment vehicle, tracking the value of WLD held by the trust, with fees and expenses deducted accordingly. BitGo is designated as the custodian, while the Bank of New York Mellon will serve as the transfer agent. This filing marks the first proposed U.S. ETF to hold Worldcoin directly and highlights Grayscale’s ongoing expansion into single-asset altcoin products. The ETF’s launch remains subject to SEC approval and further regulatory review. Following the announcement, WLD’s price increased by approximately 4.5%.
