CNN: Trump promoted firms after buying shares
CNN found Trump promoted over 20 companies on Truth Social days after buying their shares. The White House denies conflict of interest, but experts criticize the lack of a blind trust.
A CNN investigation found that Donald Trump promoted over 20 companies on Truth Social shortly after purchasing shares in those firms, as revealed by his 2025 financial disclosures. The analysis identified at least 44 stock purchases in 21 companies—including Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Eli Lilly, GE Aerospace, Boeing, Disney, Netflix, and JPMorgan—made within a week before Trump posted favorable comments about those companies, their executives, or products. In some instances, Trump also announced government measures that could benefit companies in which he had invested. The White House and Trump’s representatives denied any conflict of interest, stating that the investments are managed by independent financial institutions and that neither Trump nor his family control investment decisions. However, public ethics experts criticized the decision not to place these assets in a blind trust, raising concerns about transparency and potential conflicts of interest.
