TeraWulf expands AI and HPC capacity with Kentucky site

TeraWulf acquired Kentucky’s Muskie Data Campus, adding 1 GW of AI/HPC capacity by 2030. This boosts its total to 3.8 GW and lifted its stock price after the announcement.

TeraWulf has acquired the Muskie Data Campus in eastern Kentucky, a 285-acre facility within the 1,000-acre EastPark Industrial Park. This strategic move will support over 1 gigawatt of AI and high-performance computing (HPC) capacity, developed in two phases. The first 500 megawatts are expected to be operational in the second half of 2028, with the remaining 500 megawatts targeted for completion by the second half of 2030. To facilitate this expansion, Kentucky Power is building a 345 kV substation to connect the campus to the 765 kV transmission network, with energy service agreements already secured. This acquisition increases TeraWulf’s total controlled capacity to 3.8 GW across six sites and marks its second major campus in Kentucky. In Q1 2026, TeraWulf reported $34 million in revenue, with $21 million generated from HPC leasing—surpassing Bitcoin mining for the first time. Following the announcement, TeraWulf’s stock rose 8–13%, reflecting investor confidence in its strategic shift toward AI and HPC infrastructure.
