Strategy Inc. posts $12.5B loss, grows Bitcoin stash

Strategy Inc. reported a $12.54B Q1 loss from a $14.46B Bitcoin markdown, but boosted its holdings to 818,334 coins and raised nearly $12B for further accumulation.

Strategy Inc. posted a record net loss of $12.54 billion for Q1 2026, or $38.25 per diluted share, exceeding already negative analyst expectations. The main driver was a $14.46 billion unrealized loss on its Bitcoin holdings, as Bitcoin's price fell over 23% during the quarter. Despite the loss, revenue rose 11.9% year-over-year to $124.3 million. The company also increased its Bitcoin holdings by 22%, reaching 818,334 coins valued at $64.14 billion as of early May. In 2026, Strategy Inc. raised nearly $12 billion through equity offerings to further accumulate Bitcoin. Its preferred equity instrument, STRC, reached an $8.5 billion market cap. These results highlight the firm’s ongoing commitment to its Bitcoin accumulation strategy amid market volatility and accounting losses.
