BlackRock surges on Bitcoin ETF; Goldman Sachs files for ETF

BlackRock’s Q1 2026 net income rose to $2.2B, driven by strong Bitcoin ETF inflows. Goldman Sachs filed for a Bitcoin Premium Income ETF, aiming for income via options on Bitcoin-linked products.

BlackRock reported first quarter 2026 earnings with a net income of $2.2 billion, up from $1.77 billion a year earlier. The firm’s Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, played a major role, contributing to net inflows of $130 billion. GAAP earnings per share reached $14.53, marking a 46% year-over-year increase, while adjusted EPS was $12.53, surpassing analyst expectations. Lifetime inflows for IBIT now total $63.76 billion. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs filed with the SEC to launch a Bitcoin Premium Income ETF. This fund will invest at least 80% of its assets in Bitcoin-linked instruments, such as spot Bitcoin ETFs and options, but will not hold Bitcoin directly. The strategy aims to generate income by selling call options, which caps some upside but provides regular returns. Goldman Sachs’ move follows a similar product launch by Morgan Stanley, highlighting a growing trend among major financial institutions to offer income-generating crypto products. The approach targets investors seeking stable returns and lower risk through indirect Bitcoin exposure.
