Metaplanet unveils $25M Bitcoin expansion with new units
Metaplanet launches two subsidiaries to invest $25M in Bitcoin infrastructure, with the first investment in JPYC Inc., and aims to develop institutional products for global markets.
Metaplanet has announced the launch of two new subsidiaries: Metaplanet Ventures and Metaplanet Asset Management, signaling a strategic expansion of its Bitcoin-focused operations. Metaplanet Ventures plans to invest around 4 billion yen (approximately $25–26 million) over the next two to three years to support the development of Bitcoin financial infrastructure in Japan. The subsidiary will back companies involved in lending, settlement, custody, stablecoins, derivatives, and compliance, and will also introduce incubator and grant programs for entrepreneurs, developers, educators, and researchers. Its first investment will be in JPYC Inc., a registered yen stablecoin issuer. Meanwhile, Metaplanet Asset Management, based in Miami, will focus on creating institutional products for Bitcoin capital markets, aiming to bridge Asian and Western financial markets. This move marks a shift from simply holding Bitcoin to actively fostering ecosystem growth and developing specialized financial products.
