Harvard reduces Bitcoin ETF, invests $87M in Ethereum ETF
Harvard cut its Bitcoin ETF holdings by 21% to $265.8M and invested $87M in an Ethereum ETF, diversifying its $352.6M crypto portfolio and signaling a shift in allocation strategy.
Harvard Management Company made notable changes to its endowment portfolio in Q4, reducing its holdings in the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust by about 21%. This brought the total value of its Bitcoin ETF position to approximately $265.8 million. Simultaneously, Harvard entered the iShares Ethereum Trust for the first time, acquiring a stake valued between $86.8 million and $87 million. This marks a strategic diversification of its crypto exposure. By the end of the quarter, Harvard's total crypto-linked investments reached $352.6 million. While Bitcoin remains its largest crypto holding, the new Ethereum ETF stake highlights a shift in allocation strategy. These adjustments reflect a broader institutional trend toward regulated crypto products and diversification beyond Bitcoin.
