Metaplanet launches $137M stock offering for Bitcoin strategy
Metaplanet will raise $137M via new shares and stock rights, mainly to buy more Bitcoin, support its Bitcoin income business, and repay debt, targeting overseas investors.
Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed company, has approved a capital raise of approximately $137 million through a third-party allotment of newly issued shares and stock acquisition rights. The plan involves issuing about 24.5 million new common shares at 499 yen per share, raising roughly 12.2 billion yen. Additionally, the company will grant stock acquisition rights for up to 15.9 million shares at 547 yen per share, potentially raising another 8.8 billion yen. The payment and allotment date is set for February 13, with the exercise period for the rights running from February 16 to February 15 of the following year. The offering primarily targets overseas investors. Most of the funds will be used to purchase additional Bitcoin, support Metaplanet's Bitcoin income business, and partially repay debt. This move strengthens Metaplanet's strategy to expand its Bitcoin holdings and reinforce its capital base, positioning the company among the most aggressive corporate Bitcoin holders globally.
