Sony invests $13M in Startale for blockchain entertainment
Sony Innovation Fund invested $13M in Startale Group to boost blockchain for entertainment and AI. Their Soneium blockchain has processed over 500M transactions since its January 2025 launch.
Sony Innovation Fund has invested an additional $13 million in Startale Group, deepening their collaboration to advance blockchain infrastructure for entertainment, intellectual property, and artificial intelligence applications. With this latest round, Startale’s total funding now stands at $20 million, following previous investments in 2023 and 2024. The partnership includes the joint venture Sony Block Solutions Labs and focuses on developing Soneium, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain designed for IP-driven entertainment and AI. Since its mainnet launch in January 2025, Soneium has processed over 500 million transactions and supports more than 250 live decentralized applications. This investment grants Startale access to Sony’s expertise and global network, aiming to expand Web3 infrastructure, grow the developer community, and position blockchain technology at the forefront of digital creativity and entertainment.
